ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Secretary General Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed has said that empowered, educated and engaged youth can play vital role to resolve national and regional conflict. Indian and Pakistan have to revive dialogue on all bilateral outstanding issues including Jammu and Kashmir. Government of Pakistan and political parties’ heads should not interfere in upcoming election in Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK). A free and fair elections in Azad Kashmir must be ensure by the Election Commission of AJK and Federal government on the refugee seats located in Pakistan.
He was addressing the closing ceremony of a four-days training workshop on enhancing youth political participation in AJK organized by Center for Peace, Development and Reforms (CPDR) in collaboration with British Council (BC).It was forth workshop in the series of workshops and policy dialogue wherein 32 young leaders from AJK, Gilgit Baltistan and Srinagar actively participated.Previously, nearly 1000 youth leaders coming from diverse political backgrounds have participated in the youth dialogues and training workshops held in Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Mirpur and Islamabad.
Besides Senator Mushahid, Ambassador Arif Kamal, CPDR Executive Director Ershad Mehmud, Director Programs Dr.Waqas Ali Kousar, young political activist Raja Mansoor Khan, Sabohi Ali of British Council and others, also addressed the ceremony.
While addressing the ceremony, Mushaid Hussain Sayed said, “neither India can keep whole Kashmir under control by force nor Pakistan is in position to take it by force.” “Both neighbours need to resolve the issue through dialogue,” he added.
Mushahid said that Pakistan government and political leadership should not influence upcoming elections in AJK and let the people of AJK decide, who they want to elect. He suggested youth to get involved and engaged in political process so that genuine leadership could be elected in the region.
Mushahid said that Kashmir is among top national priorities of Pakistan and Kashmiri leadership should be included in all level of discussion and negotiation on Kashmir.
