Journalists bodies across the Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) have condemned the incident of misbehave with senior journalist Amiruddin Mughal and his collogues by security personals while traveling to Ratti Gali to cover a festival organized for the promotion of tourism during the weekend.

While addressing the protest, senior journalists Javed Asadullah, Amiruddin Mughal, Hafiz Nasiruddin, Hayyat Awan, Khawaja Siddique, Ishfaq Abbasi and others demanded a neutral probe into the matter to publicize the fact why security personals misbehave frequently with local people in general and activists and journalists in particular.

Javed Asadullah, a senior journalist and president of Neelum Press Club said that despite being native of the area, we are asked to get an NOC from Islamabad and Muzaffarabad before traveling in our native towns. We are often not allowed to cover public activities in Neelum Valley and asked to prove our identity while going to our homes.

Amiruddin Mughal, senior journalist said that it is not the first time that security personals have misbehaved. “I have been detained on security check posts many time before without any reason and asked to bring an NOC to travel and work in the area where I have born and brought up,” he added.

Earlier, Amiruddin Mughal and five other local journalists were detained at Keran and later at Dawarian by security officials for not having an NOC from ISPR to cover the tourism festival at Ratti Gali a famous tourist resort and wetland in Neelum Valley of AJK.
